The Power of the Lion

For more than five years, I have been engaged in an ongoing investigation into metabolism, resilience, chronic disease, and the physiological systems that govern human health.

What began as an attempt to answer a handful of isolated questions gradually evolved into a much broader systems-level exploration spanning vitamin C biology, stress physiology, glucose regulation, mitochondrial function, dietary theory, endothelial injury, evolutionary biology, and the historical development of modern metabolic thought.

Over time, the fragments began to connect.

What emerged was not a collection of isolated observations, but a more coherent physiological framework through which seemingly unrelated aspects of health and disease could be understood.

This continuing investigation forms the foundation of The Power of the Lion, a long-form book project exploring metabolism, resilience, vitamin C biology, dietary misconceptions, and the structural conditions that underlie modern metabolic dysfunction.

The project approaches human health through a systems-oriented lens. Rather than examining individual nutrients, diseases, or physiological pathways in isolation, it seeks to understand how regulatory systems interact, adapt, compensate, and sometimes fail. Particular areas of focus include glucose regulation, metabolic flexibility, mitochondrial function, stress physiology, endothelial injury, inflammatory signalling, hormonal regulation, and the evolutionary consequences of human vitamin C dependency.

The work draws not only from contemporary scientific literature, but also from historical clinical observations, overlooked physiological models, and interdisciplinary synthesis. Throughout the project, recurring themes of adaptation, resilience, regulation, and systems coherence emerge repeatedly across multiple domains of physiology.

Alongside this research, I continue to work professionally within the security sector. Responsibilities involving risk assessment, situational awareness, pattern recognition, and complex systems analysis have significantly influenced my analytical approach. Many of the same principles that govern complex operational environments—feedback, adaptation, failure points, resilience, and recovery—also appear within biological systems.

Although this work developed outside conventional academic pathways, it has been shaped by years of sustained independent study, primary literature review, investigative analysis, and interdisciplinary research.
